About Khari Gold, the human behind Earthensound

I'm Khari Gold and I've hit rock bottom so many times, I consider myself an amateur geologist at this point. When it comes to my peer support practice, alchemy is the name of the game. Turning coal to gold. Alchemy is an empowering approach to everyday reality and something we can do right here and right now without needing external reality to look a certain way before we do it.

Before living my current life, I lived many lives. So if you need advice on how to embrace life as a phoenix, I got you! I went to college and studied all things related to human rights violations and colonialism. I wanted a better understanding of why we live in our current world, which my upbringing in North Tulsa didn't teach me. My upbringing growing up in the Greenwood Cultural District where white people carried out the 1921 Tulsa race massacre shaped my studies and work. My senior thesis was on the foster care to prison pipeline and how white supremecy strategically targeted and destroyed oppressed peoples abilities to create healthy, trusting communities. But after studying the worst things to happen to Black people over and over while being alone, when all the pain that followed me since before I was born showed up in full force, and going through a spiritual reckoning-- everything about me broke. Coal. And so I turned to the Earth. Or rather the Earth called me in because I struggle to explain the magical and divine moments that brought me to where I am today. Gold.

Around 10 years later, I came up with the name Earthensound because I was obsessed with the dualistic nature of reality. How to be in balance and embrace those moments where you feel safely pulled between two (or more) different truths existing at the same time. And how being able to hold many truths at the same time is way of creating an intimate relationship with all that is, while also gaining unique skills to navigate our many realities. With everything happening in our evolving planet, I am here to convince you that what we thought was curses were actually gifts that gave us resilience and open heart wisdom.

I'm a dreamer and I believe in dreams and fairy tales happy endings coming true. I've lived a life of allowing societal brainwashing and justified fears to lead me away from my dreams and then saw how these perceived failures led me to my true dreams and life callings. This is a big deal for me because the majority of my 33 years on this Earth has felt like a cyclical nightmare with no end. Why did I keep encoutering the same painful themese in relationships, jobs, etc? But I've spent many years in activist, social justice, community spaces, and have witnessed people cognitively saying they want one reality, but they acted in a way that sabotaged everything they stood for. I've witnessed too many people engage in various forms of bypassing, where they ignore their inner reality and bareknuckle their way through their activist work. But the inner reality is the blueprint for the external, and so they, too, kept recreating the same trauma and systems on our beautiful planet.

As a peer support, I work with patterns and your "base frequency". i.e. the repeating themes of your life to get to the root of these challenges. My own interpretation of base frequency is that it's our default programming; no matter what happens in our life--whether we perceive it as positive or negative, how we ultimately respond and move through life is built on that. I seek to help others get to the root of these by creating new perspectives and ways to move through life.

I became interested in the field of epigenetics (study of changes in gene expression that occur without altering the DNA sequence) when I saw how my life mirrored those of the family who hurt me, and I was genuinely concerned of repeating the past horrors of my lineage. This exploration helped me feel compassion for those in my lineage who have created so much suffering for themselves and myself, completely destroying the victim/perpertrator dichotomy by understanding how our bodies hold and share trauma.

I'll share more on my own upbringing and life journey, and the wisdom I've gained that I believe will be of benefit to my fellow students of this Earth Curriculum.
